Ferndown

This garden is shaped by a bold geometric concept, where a series of concentric, interlinked circles define the overall layout. The design seamlessly connects the front garden and driveway with the rear garden, creating a unified visual flow that encourages exploration and enhances the sense of space.

While the site naturally divides into distinct zones, the transitions between them are designed to feel effortless and intentional. A gently curving gravel path begins at the front and guides visitors toward the rear garden. Along the way, swaying grasses, sculpted Beech domes, beehives, and vibrant herbaceous borders provide both physical connection and visual continuity.

The centerpiece is a striking custom water wall, conceived as a contemporary triptych-style artwork. Crafted from a clay-based material, its surface features a free-flowing, organic texture that comes alive as water cascades down, amplifying its dynamic visual effect. Positioned opposite the lounge, this sculptural element serves as both a water feature and an external artwork, offering a stunning view from inside the home as well as outdoors.

At the rear of the garden, a large babbling water bowl finished in the same material and texture—sits within a circular aggregate area surrounded by planting. With space for lounge chairs and a table, this tranquil setting draws you in with the soothing sound of water, creating an idyllic spot to unwind and enjoy the garden’s serene atmosphere.

A carefully curated material palette was chosen for its individual characteristics, each complementing the other to create a rich and harmonious aesthetic.

Rustic, textured cobbles are paired with limestone flags in varied arrangements to form distinctive circular terraces that blend seamlessly into one another via aggregate pathways. A vertically laid dry-stone wall flows gracefully along the curves of the paved paths, leading you from the garden’s entrance to its secluded rear, while serving as a sculptural feature in its own right.

To complement the garden’s bold structural design, two bespoke water features have been seamlessly integrated to create captivating focal points and inviting spaces to pause and reflect.
