Branksome

Set within a predominantly woodland environment, this garden was conceived with a restrained and sensitive design approach—one that respects the existing landscape while enhancing the architectural clarity of the contemporary home. The goal was to create a seamless dialogue between built form and natural surroundings.

Materials were selected to reflect the tones and geometry of the building’s façade, while harmonizing with the woodland palette. Corten steel and charred-effect timber were used to form bold, linear pathways and elevated decking, subtly navigating changes in level and creating a series of transitional spaces that guide movement from the structured garden into the wilder woodland beyond.

The garden is punctuated by a series of integrated outdoor living zones, including a cooking area, relaxed dining space, and a firepit gathering point. These elements are carefully positioned to offer moments of pause and connection, framed by lush planting and long views into the surrounding woodland—creating a calm, immersive experience rooted in nature.
